Follow these steps if you want to use Gmail, but you want the message to appear to come from your Emory.edu account.
In GMail, go to Settings>Accounts
After clicking on Settings and then Accounts, click on “Add another email address:”
Add another email address you own (part 1)
Enter your name and Emory Email address. If this is your address, and not someone else’s, leave “Treat as an alias” checked. Click Next Step to move to the next screen.
Add another email address you own (part 2)
- Enter “smtp.office365.com” for SMTP Server.
- Enter “NETID@emory.edu” for Username.
- Enter your Emory password in the Password field.
- Change the Port to 587.
- Click Add Account.

Google will now send you a confirmation code. Check your Emory email for the code and paste it into the window. Then click “Verify.”
Verify that you now see the account listed under “Send mail as:” in GMail
If everything is configured correctly, you should now see the Emory account listed under the “Send mail as:” options in settings. Now, when you compose mail in Gmail, you will have an option to send it from your GMail address or to send it from your Emory address.
After going through these steps, you should be able to send email from your GMail account that appears to come from your Emory account. And before you ask, there is apparently a way to POP mail from the Office 365 server to your GMail account. Look in the section labeled “Check mail from other accounts” to learn how to set it up.
